U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrests South Caroina Shooting Suspect in Shippenburg

Harrisburg, PA – Today, United States Marshal Martin J. Pane announced the arrest of Dominque Apprentice Montgomery, a 29-year old man from Williamsburg, South Carolina.

On July 31, 2020, officials in Hemingway, South Carolina obtained an arrest warrant charging Montgomery with Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime and Attempted Murder. Efforts to find him in the Hemingway area were unsuccessful and the U.S. Marshals Service U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force was asked to apprehend him. Deputy marshals investigated and arrested Montgomery in the 100 block of Walnut Bottom Road, Shippensburg without incident at about 10:45 a.m. today. He was turned over to Cumberland County officials for arraignment and booking.

United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, "We place a high priority on fugitive cases in which the use of violence against victims occurs. By working with our law enforcement partners to ensure violent offenders are brought to justice, communities throughout Pennsylvania become safer and more secure."

The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania is comprised of 21 local and state police agencies, including: the Pennsylvania State Police; the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole; the York County Sheriff's Office; the York County District Attorney's Office; the Harrisburg Bureau of Police; the Lower Paxton Township Police Department; and, the Swatara Township Police Department – all of whom participated in this investigation. The U.S. Marshals Service also received assistance from Pennsylvania state troopers assigned to the barracks in Carlisle and Chambersburg.
