Fugitives Arrested in Iowa City

Iowa City, IA – Two U.S. Marshals Service-led violent fugitive task forces – the Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force (SIFTF) and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force – joined forces today with the Johnson County Drug Task Force and the Iowa City Street Crimes Unit to arrest two fugitives wanted on separate out-of-state criminal charges. Both men are accused of violent crimes.

Sheldon Doll, 19, was charged with First Degree Murder in Cook County, Illinois on July 7, 2020. Doll was located and arrested today in the 1900 block of Broadway in Iowa City.

George Ross, 40, is wanted by the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) on a parole violation warrant issued on May 12, 2020. This warrant stemmed from new allegations of Stalking, Disorderly Conduct, and Bail-Jumping. Ross is serving a term of parole with the IDOC based upon a previous conviction for Assault. Ross is also wanted by the Dane County, Wisconsin Sheriff's Office on a May 13, 2020 arrest warrant issued for failing to appear on charges of Intimidation. Ross was arrested today in the 1800 block of Muscatine in Iowa City.

Doll and Ross were both booked into the Johnson County Jail in Iowa City to await extradition proceedings.

The Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force is a team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in the Southern District of Iowa.

The Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force's objective is to seek out and arrest violent fugitives and sexual predators on outstanding federal, state, and local arrest warrants. Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force partner agencies include the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the Fifth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services, the Fourth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Council Bluffs Police Department.
