U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrest Two Men for Aggravated Robbery

Dayton, OH – U.S. Marshal Pete Tobin is pleased to announce during the early hours of January 29, 2020 the U.S. Marshal’s Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) with the assistance of the Dayton Police Department arrested Sean Chappell and Tony Jackson. The men were wanted by the Dayton Police Department for an aggravated robbery that took place August 29, 2019; where 29 firearms were stolen.

Last August, Dayton Police officers responded to a report of a robbery at a pawn shop known as “The Ohio Loan Company”, located at 1171 W. Third St. in Dayton Ohio. Upon arrival, officers noticed an employee of the shop who required medical attention. The employee explained that two men had come into the shop, fired guns at the store’s glass display cases and stolen 29 hand guns in addition to cash and jewelry. During the robbery an employee was badly assaulted with a handgun.

Arrest warrants for Jackson and Chappell were issued in January 2020 and SOFAST began the search for the fugitives. The men were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Montgomery County Jail for processing and arraignment of their pending state charges.

U.S. Marshals SOFAST is a multi-jurisdictional task force comprised of the Dayton Police Department, Springfield Police Department, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, ICE, Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Prosecutors Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, and Springboro Police Department.

The U.S. Marshals Service is the nation’s primary fugitive hunting organization and captures more federal fugitives each year than all other law enforcement agencies combined.
