Man Wanted in Alabama Found Hiding in Cleveland

Cleveland, OH – Late this evening members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Frederick Hampton, 50. Hampton was wanted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Birmingham, Alabama for sex offender registration violations and abuse of a corpse.

Hampton was wanted in connection with the actions taken after the death of Paighton Houston, 29. The body of the Ms. Houston was found Friday, January 3, wrapped in sheets and buried in a shallow grave behind the house at 215 Chapel Drive just outside of Birmingham, Alabama. That house belongs to relatives of Hampton.

This evening, Hampton was arrested at the home of a family member in the 13600 block of Eastwood Ave. in Garfield Heights. Entry into the home was forced by officers but Hampton was taken into custody without further incident. He will remain in local custody until he can be extradited back to Alabama. Additionally, Hampton is under investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service for possible federal violations.
U.S. Marshal Peter Elliott stated, “Quick action by law enforcement in Alabama and Ohio led to the capture of this fugitive who was very clearly on the run from authorities. A person with little regard for life is off the streets and both communities are safer this evening.”
