Rocky Mount Homicide Suspect Arrested

Rocky Mount, NC – The U.S. Marshals, Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force (CRFTF), announce the arrest of Travon Kierre Baker, age 20, of Baltimore, Maryland. Baker was arrested Sunday morning in Baltimore, MD, by the U.S. Marshals and the Maryland State Police. Baker was wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred in Rocky Mount, North Carolina earlier this year.

In the early morning hours of January 2, 2020, Rocky Mount Police responded to a residence regarding a shooting that had just occurred. Upon arrival, one victim was found with gunshot wounds and later died as a result of his injuries. Baker was immediately identified as a suspect and a warrant for homicide was issued for Baker's arrest. The Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force was asked to locate Baker and information was developed that Baker had returned to Baltimore shortly after the incident.

The U.S. Marshals - Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) in Maryland was then contacted and asked to assist with locating Baker. Early this Sunday, January 5, 2020, U.S. Marshals from the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and the District of Columbia, along with officers from the Maryland State Police, located and arrested Baker at a residence in the 6500 block of Falkirk Road in Baltimore. Baker is currently being held in Maryland and awaiting extradition to North Carolina.
