Arkansas Murder Suspect Arrested by U.S. Marshals Task Force and Multi Agency Gang Unit

Memphis, TN – A 1st Degree Murder suspect out of Jonesboro, Arkansas (AR) was arrested earlier today by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Multi Agency Gang Unit.

On November 30, 2019 Andrew Powell was murdered by gun shots in a residence in Jonesboro, AR. On December 3, 2019 a warrant was issued by the District Court of Craighead County AR for the arrest of JaColby Haggard for 1st Degree Murder.

On December 9, 2019 investigators with the Marshals Task Force and the Multi Agency Gang Unit went to a residence at the 700 block of Gilleas, Memphis, TN to gather more information about the location of the fugitive. The fugitive was discovered hiding at that residence. He was taken into custody without incident.

This was the second 1st degree murder suspect arrested by the Marshals Task Force today. Earlier today Lundarius Brown was arrested by the Task Force.

At the time of this press release Haggard awaits extradition at the Shelby County Detention Center.

The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force with divisions in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The Western Tennessee Division of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Madison County Sheriff's Deputies, Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, ATF, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
