In October of 2011, President Barack Obama appointed Martin J. Pane as the United States Marshal for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. As Marshal, his responsibilities encompass leading and directing operations, including security and protection of the United States Courts, criminal investigations, fugitive apprehension, execution of federal court orders and other law enforcement activities.

Purpose: Investigate and arrest violent offenders within the Counties of Bradford, Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill, Susquehanna and Wyoming.
