U.S. Marshals' Biographies

Scott E. Kracl took the oath of office as the United States Marshal for the District of Nebraska on June 11, 2018. The U.S. Marshal's Service is the nation's oldest federal law enforcement agency. Marshal Kracl is responsible for the leadership and direction of United States Marshals Service operations in the District of Nebraska.

Marshal Schofield leads the operations of the U.S. Marshals Service in Nevada. Additionally, he serves on the Nevada Joint Terrorism Task Force Executive Board, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Executive Board, and the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force executive board.

Upon the retirement of United States Marshal William R. Hart Jr. on August 30, 2025, pursuant to the Federal Vacancies Reform Act, Chief Deputy United States Marshal Katherine R. Burns assumed the role of Acting United States Marshal (USM) for the District of New Hampshire.

The Honorable David O. Barnett, Jr. was nominated by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., confirmed by the United States Senate, and appointed on August 23, 2024, to serve as the United States Marshal for the District of New Mexico.

Charles F. Salina serves as the United States Marshal for the Western District of New York. He was appointed by President Barack Obama in July, 2011. The Western District of New York covers 17 counties. As Marshal, Salina's responsibilities encompass leading and directing operations, including security and protection of the United States Courts, criminal investigations, fugitive apprehension, execution of federal court orders and other law enforcement activities.

On January 23, 2026, Attorney General Pam Bondi designated Chief Deputy United States Marshal Christopher J. Amoia to serve as the Acting United States Marshal for the Northern District of New York.

Ricky J. Patel was designated as the United States Marshal for the Southern District of New York on January 20, 2026, by the United States Attorney General.

Vincent F. DeMarco was nominated by President Donald J. Trump and confirmed by the United States Senate on June 18, 2020. U.S. Marshal Vincent F. DeMarco began his law enforcement career in 1994 as a Deputy Sheriff with the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office in New York.

The Honorable Catrina A. Thompson was nominated by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., confirmed by the United States Senate, and appointed on January 3, 2023, to serve as the United States Marshal (USM) for the Middle District of North Carolina.

The Honorable Glenn M. McNeill, Jr. was nominated by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., confirmed by the United States Senate, and appointed on December 9, 2022, to serve as the United States Marshal (USM) for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

The Honorable Terry J. Burgin was nominated by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., confirmed by the United States Senate, and appointed on December 9, 2022, to serve as the United States Marshal (USM) for the Western District of North Carolina.

On October 17, 2018, United States President J. Donald Trump appointed Dallas Carlson as the US Marshal for the District of North Dakota. Marshal Carlson was sworn into office by the Honorable Daniel L. Hovland, Chief Judge for the District of North Dakota. The District of North Dakota has four courthouses spread across a geographical area of 70,762 miles.
