Washington, D.C — The combined federal and local effort to Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful have reached the milestones of over 5,000 arrests and the seizure of more than 500 guns as part of a historic collaboration to restore public order and safety in Washington, D.C.

Washington, DC - May 23rd was a busy day for Deputy U.S. Marshals Christopher Barton and Seth Howlett, assigned to the Eastern District of Texas – Beaumont Division. After successfully clearing three felony warrants in the morning, they came upon an accident on the Purple Heart Memorial Bridge near Jefferson County, Texas, and noticed traffic had just begun to slow.

On April 7, 2025, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) held a blood drive at its headquarters in Arlington, VA. The blood drive and its timing were set up to honor four law enforcement officers who were killed on duty in North Carolina just one year ago, on April 29, 2024.

235 years ago, George Washington signed the Judiciary Act which defined the U.S. Marshals as officers of the court and charged them with aiding federal courts in their law enforcement functions.

Just days after signing the act into law, President Washington then appointed the very first 13 U.S. Marshals, one for each federal district or territory.

The United States Marshals Service (USMS) acknowledges June 27th as National PTSD Awareness Day in an attempt to reduce stigmatization about the disorder.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Middle District of Florida issued a press release March 26, 2024.  “Jumbotron Hacker and Prolific Child Molester Sentenced to 220 Years in Federal Prison,” the headline read.
