Fugitive of the Week Arrested by New Hampshire State Police

Concord, NH – The U.S. Marshals – New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force is pleased to announce that "Fugitive of the Week", Mathew Eric Nuernberg, was arrested by the NH State Police the same day he was featured.

Mr. Nuernberg had been featured as the "Fugitive of the Week" on April 28th. Nuernberg was being sought by the Strafford County Sheriff’s Office for bail violations stemming from original charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and theft. The "Fugitive of the Week" was aired on WTPL-FM, WNTK-FM, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster’s Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink" Link, the Rochester Voice and prominently featured on the internet. The "Fugitive of the Week” continues to be a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of over 500 fugitives since its implementation in 2007. Additionally, the "Fugitive of the Week" was distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers in New Hampshire.

On April 28th, "Fugitive of the Week," Mathew Eric Nuernberg, 27 years-of-age who was last known to reside in Rochester, New Hampshire was located by an alert New Hampshire State Trooper on Whitehouse Road in Rochester. While on patrol, the trooper had observed a male dressed in purple riding a bike towing a wagon. The male riding in the wagon was known by the Trooper to have an outstanding Somersworth Police Department warrant and was arrested without incident. During further investigation by the Trooper, he requested the bike rider's name and was provided a false name. This male was eventually identified using his tattoos as "Fugitive of the Week" Matthew Nuernberg. Mr. Nuernberg was transported to the Strafford County Jail for processing and holding pending a court appearance regarding his bail violations in the Strafford County Superior Court.

U.S. Marshal, Nick Willard said, "Law enforcement is truly a group effort, it takes help from the public, the media, along with the men and women of law enforcement." Willard continued, "We are grateful to everyone that continues to support law enforcement and their efforts to keep the public safe."

Since the inception of the U.S. Marshals - New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 8,218 arrests (Updated as of 12/16/2020). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
