Maine Sentencing No‑Show Located and Arrested by U.S. Marshals

For immediate release

Portland, ME – The U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Violent Offender Task Force, announces the arrest of Albert Deschaine, 37, in Phillips, Maine.

A warrant was issued for Deschaine’s arrest after he failed to appear in Androscoggin County Superior Court to be sentenced on convictions for Manslaughter (Class A), Reckless Conduct (Class C), and Operation of a Defective Vehicle (Class E) relating to a fatal motor vehicle crash on October 7, 2024. Deschaine was in a camper on a property in Phillips and was taken into custody without incident.

The Auburn Police Department requested assistance from the Maine Violent Offender Task Force after Deschaine failed to appear for the sentencing. Task Force members immediately initiated a fugitive investigation. Through investigative leads, Task Force members determined Deschaine had remained in Maine and was believed to have fled to the Phillips area. Today, Task Force members executed an arrest operation at a residence in Phillips, where Deschaine was identified and apprehended.

This apprehension reflects the seamless collaboration among federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to include the Auburn Police Department, working together to locate fugitives and ensure they are held accountable, reinforcing our shared commitment to public safety and preventing further harm to our communities.

The Maine Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of personnel from the U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Department of Corrections, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Maine National Guard Counterdrug Task Force.
