U.S. Marshals Capture Maryland Home Invasion Suspect in Marion

Marion, OH – Today, members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Yhonayker Jose Torres-Ascanio, 21. Torres-Ascanio was wanted by the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office in Maryland for multiple violent offenses including armed robbery, assault, and a weapons offense.

On February 11, 2026, a residence near the 28700 block of Outram Street, Easton, Maryland was broken into and the occupants of the residence were tied up, assaulted and then robbed of various items. An investigation ensued and it was determined that Torres-Ascanio was involved in the incident and a warrant for arrest was issued on April 1, 2026.

Investigative measures led NOVFTF members to an address near the 100 block of Jefferson Street in Marion, Ohio.  Torres-Ascanio was located hiding inside the residence, and four other individuals who were hiding in the house and believed to be illegal immigrants were turned over to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement).  Torres-Ascanio was transported to the Marion County Jail where he will be held until his extradition back to Maryland.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “This violent fugitive thought he could flee to northern Ohio to evade law enforcement, but he was mistaken. Members of our fugitive task force take the safety of our communities very seriously, and we will tirelessly pursue violent fugitives until they are located and arrested.”
