Couple Arrested by U.S. Marshals for Their Involvement in Homicide Outside of Cleveland Apartment

For immediate release

Cleveland, OH – This morning, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) located and arrested My'Laisa Cordee Addison and Christian Michael Kendricks. Both were wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police for aggravated murder.

According to police, on August 20, 2022, My'Laisa Cordee Addison, 20, and a female were engaging in a physical altercation over money outside of an apartment near the 3900 block of E. 176th Street. Cardell Hawthorne, 28, of Cleveland, saw the females fighting and attempted to break up the altercation. At that time, the boyfriend of Addison, Christian Michael Kendricks, 21, exited his vehicle, which was occupied with two small children, and proceeded to shoot Hawthorne several times and ultimately kill him. Addison and Kendricks then removed the two children from the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

This morning, members of the Cleveland Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Addison and Kendricks inside an apartment near the 7400 block of Garden Valley in Cleveland. When task force members knocked and announced their presence at the front door, Kendricks attempted to flee out of a bedroom window. Task force members safely arrested both Addison and Kendricks and turned them over to the Cleveland Division of Police for processing.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, "The Cleveland Division of Police is one of the strongest partners with the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and we will continue to work together to take violent fugitives, like this couple, off the street."
