Suspect Arrested in Death of 4-Month-Old Baby

For immediate release

Canton, OH – Late yesterday evening, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Javion Milan, 24. Milan was wanted for murder, felonious assault, and endangering children.

On August 31, 2021, police and EMS responded to a home in the 2900 block of Rem Circle NE in Canton. A 4-month-old baby was found unresponsive and transported to Mercy Medical Center. The Canton Police Department conducted an extensive investigation regarding the baby’s injuries. Eventually, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Javion Milan, the child's father.

Milan was indicted by a grand jury and a warrant for his arrest was issued on October 13, 2022. Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) immediately began investigating the whereabouts of Milan. Late last night, members of the task force were able to locate and arrest Milan outside of his place of employment in Canton. Milan was arrested without incident and booked into the Stark County Jail.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, "Members of the Canton Police Department, County Prosecutors Office and the Stark County Sheriff's Office worked diligently over the past year to bring charges against this suspect. Crimes against children are always especially heinous and members of our task force will work to ensure that people who commit such crimes are removed from society."
