First Degree Murder Suspect Captured by Marshals Task Force

Memphis, TN – U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announces the capture of Timmie Cooperwood for First Degree Murder.

On October 6, 2020, Shandka Harvell was shot and killed at a residence at the 2000 block of Prospect, Memphis, Tennessee. On October 9 a warrant for Timmie Cooperwood for First Degree Murder was issued by Shelby County for this crime. This case was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Investigators with the Task Force tracked the fugitive to a residence in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The Marshals office in that area were able to locate the fugitive there and take him into custody without incident.

In addition to First Degree Murder, Cooperwood was also wanted for Aggravated Assault, Convicted Fugitive in Possession of a Handgun, Aggravated Stalking, Employing a Firearm with intent to commit a Felony, and Aggravated Burglary.

"Timmie Cooperwood was able to avoid arrest for close to three months," said U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller. "I'm pleased that the Marshals Service was able to close this fugitive case before the year came to an end."

The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force with divisions in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The Western Tennessee Division of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
