Murder Suspect Sought by U.S. Marshals Arrested

For immediate release

Memphis, TN – The suspect sought by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force on August 25th in Memphis was arrested by the Bartlett Police Department today.

Cameron Hunter, who was wanted by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, was arrested on charges of First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, Especially Aggravated Robbery, Possession of a Firearm, and Especially Aggravated Burglary. The warrants for his arrest were issued on August 4th, and the investigation was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force on August 19th.

Hunter was the primary suspect sought on August 25th at the intersection of Halcy and Elvis Presley. Hunter is thought to be a known associate of the 17-year-old suspect charged by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) in that incident.

Hunter faces additional charges by Bartlett police in connection with his arrest.

The Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force (GCRFTF) has offices in Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama. The West Tennessee office consists of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Investigators with the Jackson Police Department, Agents with the Tennessee Department of Correction, Investigators with the Memphis Police Department, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
