U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrests TBI Top Ten

For immediate release

Memphis, TN – The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested Leonard Lamount Porterfield, one of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's (TBI) Most Wanted fugitives.

Porterfield was wanted by the Covington Police Department, Memphis Police Department, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for Aggravated Robbery, 2 Counts of Aggravated Assault, 2 counts of Assault, and 3 counts evading arrest and other charges.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation contacted the Task Force for assistance because they had located Porterfield. In addition to Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents, Memphis Police Department officers from Old Allen precinct, the Multi Agency Gang Unit, and a Shelby County K-9 unit were on hand to assist with the arrest.

The fugitive was located at a residence in the 3800 block of Houghton Cove, Memphis TN. He was found hiding in the attic. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force with divisions in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The Western Tennessee Division of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Madison County Sheriff's Deputies, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, ATF, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
