U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrests Harrisburg Wilkes-Barre Shooting Suspect

Harrisburg, PA – Today, U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane announced the arrest of Damel Latiek Wright – a 21-year old Scranton man.

On April 4, 2020, the Wilkes-Barre Police Department investigated the non-fatal shooting of a victim in the 200 block of Mclean Street. As a result of their investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Wright with aggravated assault and lesser included offenses. Later, the fugitive investigation was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force.

Today, at about 6:30 p.m., task force members checked a home in the 500 block of Mary Street, Scranton and arrested Wright without incident. He was turned over to the Wilkes-Barre Police Department for arraignment and processing.

United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, "We place a high priority on fugitive cases in which the use of violence against victims occurs. By working with our law enforcement partners to ensure violent offenders are brought to justice, communities throughout Pennsylvania become safer and more secure."

The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania is comprised of 20 state, county and local police agencies, including: the Pennsylvania State Police; the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole; the Wilkes-Barre Police Department; the Kingston Police Department; the Bradford County Sheriff's Office; and, the Scranton Police Department - all of whom participated in this investigation.
