For immediate release

PORTLAND – The United States Marshals Service (USMS) Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force (PNVOTF) captured Vince Edgar Chavez, on October 28, 2026. Chavez was the prime suspect in the kidnapping of a 10-year-old Canby, OR, girl.

Earlier that day, the 10-year-old female was abducted from her residence in Canby, OR. PNVOTF was requested to assist in her location and in the arrest of the person of interest.

Law enforcement was able to locate Chavez in the 500 block of Pleasant Ave, in Oregon City.

In a joint effort of the PNVOTF, Clackamas County Sherriff’s Office SWAT, Oregon City PD, Tactical Negotiations Team (TNT) with Washington County, and the FBI, police made entry into the residence as Chavez attempted to escape out the rear of the house. He was arrested without further incident.

The victim was located in the residence tied up in a closet and transported to a local medical facility for treatment of her injuries and further evaluation.

“The Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force along with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and Canby Police Department led this coordinated effort, bringing together resources to ensure the safe recovery of a kidnapped child,” said District of Oregon Chief Deputy United States Marshal Eddie Sanchez. “This case demonstrates the power of collaboration and our unwavering commitment to protecting our communities and holding violent offenders accountable.”
