Ex-Boyfriend Wanted for Pushing Mom and Baby From Balcony Apprehended

For immediate release

Washington, DC – Members of the U.S. Marshals Service in the Southern District of New York, alongside the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, arrested Angel Carrasco today in connection with a Bronx, New York, incident that left a woman dead and an infant critically injured.

Carrasco was taken into custody safely following an intensive investigation that began yesterday when the U.S. Marshals Service took on the case. The team began searching for Carrasco after he allegedly pushed a mother and baby from a 15th- floor Bronx apartment balcony on Tuesday.  According to witnesses, the mother begged the suspect to stop before plummeting to the ground.

“This horrific tragedy weighs heavily on every team member who worked this case,” said U.S. Marshal Ricky J. Patel.  “We owed it to the brave mother who gave her life to save her child from a vicious individual.  While nothing can undo this terrible loss, taking this suspect off the street ensures he will answer for his alleged heinous actions.”

The NY/NJ RFTF began operations in April 2002 and was the first regional fugitive task force to become fully operational following the Presidential Threat Protection Act of 2000. The NY/NJ RFTF was the flagship that has allowed seven other regional fugitive task forces to be created across the country. With partnership agreements with over 90 federal, state, or local agencies and 13 fully operational offices, the NY/NJ RFTF has successfully apprehended over 95,000 fugitives since inception.
