U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect in July Double Homicide of VDOT Contractors

Chesterfield, VA – The U. S. Marshals Service (USMS) arrested a fugitive today who was wanted for a double murder in relation to a shooting that occurred in Chesterfield County on July 24th. 

The USMS Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) arrested Dennikia Rachelle Boyce, 37, shortly after 10 a.m. in the 500 block of House Avenue in Scotland Neck, North Carolina. Johnson was wanted on a federal warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, and two Virginia state felony warrants for second-degree murder. The USMS CARFTF was assisted in the investigation by the Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force (CRFTF) the the Virginia State Police, and the Scotland Neck (NC) Police Department.  

All charges were related to the July 24th shooting of two VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation) contractors at a VDOT equipment staging area near the intersection of Route 1 and Route 288 in Chesterfield County that left both contractors dead.

Shortly after the murders occurred, investigators with the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Richmond Division requested the assistance of the USMS CARFTF with locating and apprehending Boyce. The investigation crossed the state border with North Carolina where Boyce was ultimately apprehended without incident today in Scotland Neck.

Marshals Service is dedicated to assisting our state and local partners with removing violent criminals from the community,” said Don Snider, Commander of the USMS Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. “Violent fugitives can cross state lines, but they cannot escape the reach of the U. S. Marshals Service.”

Boyce is being held at the Halifax County Detention Center in North Carolina. 

The USMS Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force was established in June of 2004, has partnership agreements with over 100 federal, state, and local agencies and has 8 fully operational offices. To date, CARFTF has arrested more than 111,488 fugitives.
