U.S. Marshal for the District of Maine - David L. St. Pierre

The Honorable David L. St. Pierre was sworn in as the United States Marshal for the District of Maine on May 29, 2026, following his confirmation by the United States Senate.

United States Marshal St. Pierre oversees all United States Marshals Service (USMS) operations in the District of Maine, including federal judicial security, court security, fugitive investigations and apprehension, sex offender and missing child investigations, prisoner operations, asset forfeiture, and service of process.

Marshal St. Pierre joined the USMS with over 33 years of law enforcement experience and had the fortunate opportunity to have had a large variety of assignments and promotions; including serving as a Patrol Officer, State of Maine Drug Enforcement Agent, Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant with the City of Lewiston; Maine’s 2nd largest city. For several years, Mr. St. Pierre oversaw the Lewiston Police Department’s Support Services Division during which time he acted as their Public Information Officer. He became very well known by the community by virtue of the many on-camera interviews and press conferences he took the lead on, as well as having been born and raised in the City of Lewiston. Mr. St. Pierre recently served as the Chief of Police for the Lewiston Police Department for his last 4 years, before retiring in September of 2025.

Mr. St. Pierre had a very rewarding and successful career with the Lewiston Police Department, during which he overcame many challenges including leading his Department through the deadliest shooting in the history of Maine and the Nation’s 10th deadliest; actively leading the coordination of hundreds of Law Enforcement partners who responded from far and wide. He also led the effort into obtaining a new, much larger police facility to also include space for State and Federal partners; all under the same roof fostering improved working relationships and policing effectiveness to further protect the citizens of Lewiston and the State of Maine.

Mr. St. Pierre graduated from St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice and furthered his college education at the University of Southern Maine in Portland, Maine, where his major was Criminology. He is a Graduate of the 271st Session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy and has attended countless law-enforcement training courses. He holds memberships in the FBI National Academy Associates, Maine Chiefs of Police Association and the International Chiefs of Police Association. Mr. St. Pierre has been the recipient of many awards and commendations throughout his career to include the 2024 United States Secret Service Director’s Award.
