U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Louisiana, Brian H. Barber

The Honorable Brian H. Barber was sworn in as the United States Marshal for the Western District of Louisiana on May 22, 2026, following his confirmation by the United States Senate.

United States Marshal Barber oversees all United States Marshals Service (USMS) operations in the Western District of Louisiana, including federal judicial security, court security, fugitive investigations and apprehension, sex offender and missing child investigations, prisoner operations, asset forfeiture, and service of process.

Marshal Barber joined the USMS with over 30 years of legal experience, including serving as a Special Assistant District Attorney in Caddo Parish; Assistant City Attorney and Chief City Prosecutor in Shreveport; and the Assistant District Attorney for the Caddo Parish District Attorney's Office. Mr. Barber most recently served as the Chief Judge with the Shreveport City, Louisiana, Court.

Mr. Barber holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Louisiana State University.
