U.S. Marshals Capture Suspect Wanted for Murder in Las Vegas

Albany, NY – Thursday evening, members of the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Utica Division of the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force (NY/NJ RFTF) arrested Kali Hines, 21, who was wanted by the North Las Vegas, Nevada, Police Department on an arrest warrant for murder with a deadly weapon and attempted murder with a deadly weapon.

The North Las Vegas Police Department requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals in locating and arresting Hines. Investigative efforts determined that Hines fled Nevada and was hiding in Utica, New York.  Upon learning this information, task force members immediately began an investigation.  These efforts led investigators to a residence in Utica.

Task force members conducted surveillance operations at this residence and, after confirming it was occupied by Hines, captured Hines at the residence.

Hines was transported to the Utica Police Department for processing and will be presented before a judge. He is expected to be remanded as a fugitive from justice and pending extradition to Nevada.

Aiding in this effort, the U.S. Marshals received critical assistance from the Utica Police Department Tactical Unit (TAC), the FBI, and New York State Police Aviation.

The NY/NJ RFTF – Utica Division is composed of several different agencies, to include the Utica Police Department, New Hartford Police Department, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Oneida County Probation Department, New York State Police, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
