U.S. Marshals Service Task Force Apprehend Violent Mesa Shooting Suspect in Flagstaff

For immediate release

Mesa, AZ – A suspect wanted in connection with a violent shooting in Mesa was apprehended less than 24 hours after the incident by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force in Flagstaff, Arizona.

“This arrest highlights the critical role that strong partnerships between the U.S. Marshals Service and our local law enforcement agencies play in protecting our communities,” said U.S. Marshal Van Bayless for the District of Arizona. “The rapid exchange of information, coordinated investigative efforts, and seamless teamwork between Deputy U.S. Marshals and our task force partners were instrumental in the swift apprehension of this violent fugitive. By working together, we were able to quickly locate and safely take this individual into custody, helping ensure the safety of the public.”

On June 4, 2026, Isiah Martin allegedly became involved in a domestic-related dispute with his significant other’s father in Mesa. During the confrontation, Martin is accused of firing multiple rounds at the victim before fleeing the area.

Mesa Police Department detectives immediately launched an investigation and requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force. Investigators quickly developed information indicating Martin had fled Mesa shortly after the shooting. Through coordinated investigative efforts, authorities learned Martin was potentially traveling toward Colorado and was believed to be in the Flagstaff area. Deputy U.S. Marshals in Phoenix rapidly coordinated with deputies and task force officers in northern Arizona to identify potential locations associated with Martin and establish surveillance operations.

Later that day, Deputy U.S. Marshals and task force officers located a vehicle linked to Martin in Flagstaff. Investigators observed the vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 before it exited the highway. Based on information developed during the investigation, task force officers conducted a vehicle intervention utilizing a Grappler device, safely bringing the vehicle to a stop. Officers issued verbal commands to the occupants, and Martin exited the driver’s seat and surrendered without incident. During the arrest, investigators recovered a firearm from the vehicle. Martin was subsequently turned over to Mesa Police Department detectives.

Martin was booked into the Mesa City Jail on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Drive-By Shooting, and Discharging a Firearm Within City Limits.

The Arizona WANTED Violent Offender Task Force is a U.S. Marshals Service led multi-jurisdictional fugitive apprehension unit responsible for more than 1748 arrests in the last year.
