U.S. Marshals, U.S. Army Arrest Fugitive Wanted in Poland for Fraud

For immediate release

Washington, DC – The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Western District of Missouri-Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force (MVFTF)-Springfield Office, in coordination with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Missouri-Springfield Office, Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division-Mid Central Field Office, USMS Office of International Operations (OIO) and USMS District of Arizona-Phoenix Office, arrested on May 19 international fugitive Marcin Pióro at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Pióro, the CEO of the Polish financial services platform Cinkciarz.pl/Conotoxia, was the subject of an Interpol red notice and wanted by Polish authorities for large-scale fraud and money laundering offenses tied to losses exceeding approximately 125 million PLN (over $30 million USD), with subsequent reporting indicating losses may exceed 150 million PLN.

Pioro was taken into custody while participating in a military training exercise on Fort Leonard Wood. Coordination was conducted with U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division personnel prior to arrest to ensure operational safety, minimize disruption to military activities, and maintain security protocols. The arrest was executed without incident.

Pióro joined the U.S. Army to receive naturalization sponsorship.

The successful apprehension of Pioro was the direct result of strong collaboration and coordination among multiple federal and international law enforcement partners. Through the sharing of intelligence, investigative resources, and operational support, agencies were able to effectively track, locate, and safely arrest Pioro across jurisdictional boundaries.

This operation highlighted the importance of interagency cooperation and demonstrated how unified efforts between domestic and international partners enhance public safety, strengthen law enforcement capabilities, and ensure fugitives are brought to justice regardless of location.

The Western District of Missouri remains steadfast in our unwavering commitment to the pursuit of justice, fortified by strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts. It is both a privilege and a solemn responsibility to keep our community safe from dangerous fugitives.

“This fugitive investigation is a testament to the commitment the U.S. Marshals Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force in the Western District of Missouri has for finding, apprehending, and bringing to justice violent fugitives,” said Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Chris Deaton. “Our Deputies and support staff have tirelessly collaborated to locate and apprehend Pioro. Today’s arrest was a strong symbolic gesture of this commitment.”

“On Tuesday, May 19, Marcin Pioro, 46, was arrested at U.S. Army installation and training center, Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, in response to a request for Pioro’s arrest for purposes of extradition submitted to the United States by the Government of Poland.

Pioro appeared on May 20 in federal court in US District Court for the Western District of Missouri before U.S. Magistrate Judge David P. Rush and was detained.

The arrest was executed by the U.S. Marshals Service’s deputies in the Western District of Missouri, in coordination with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Department of War Office of Inspector General and the FBI. The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs of the Department’s Criminal Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri is handling the extradition proceedings.
