U.S. Marshals Capture Suspect Wanted for Attempted Murder in Delaware

For immediate release

Albany, NY – This morning, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Albany Division of the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force (NY/NJ RFTF) arrested Emanuel Greaves who was wanted by the New Castle County, Delaware Police Department on an arrest warrant for attempted murder in the first degree (2 counts) and possession of a firearm. Emanuel Greaves is believed to be responsible for a shooting incident that occurred in Newark, Delaware on March 15, 2026.

The New Castle County Police Department requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals in locating and arresting Emanuel Greaves. Investigative efforts determined that Greaves fled Delaware and was hiding in the New York Capital Region. Upon learning this information, task force members in the New York Capital Region immediately began an investigation.  These efforts led investigators to a residence in Troy, New York.

Task force members conducted surveillance operations at this residence and were able to confirm that it was occupied by Greaves. This morning, U.S. Marshals captured Greaves at this residence in Troy.

Greaves was transported to the Troy Police Department for processing and will be presented before a judge. He is expected to be remanded as a fugitive from justice and pending extradition to Delaware. Greaves had a history of a firearm-related offense and was considered armed and dangerous.

The NY/NJ RFTF – Albany Division is composed of several different agencies across the Capital District, to include the Albany Police Department, Colonie Police Department, Gloversville Police Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, New York State Office of the Attorney General, Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office, Schenectady Police Department, Troy Police Department, Kingston Police Department, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Watervliet Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the U.S. Marshals Service.
