M. Dante Gordon, Acting U.S. Marshal

M. Dante Gordon began his law enforcement career in 2002 with the Montgomery Police Department in Montgomery, Alabama. During his tenure as a police officer, he served in several operational and investigative roles including patrol officer, canine handler, robbery–homicide detective, and Task Force Officer assigned to the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force. In these assignments, Gordon developed extensive experience in violent crime investigations, fugitive apprehension, and interagency law enforcement operations.

In 2009, Gordon joined the United States Marshals Service (USMS), where he has served in a variety of leadership, operational, and administrative capacities. Over the course of his career with the USMS, he has held assignments as a Deputy U.S. Marshal, SOIC (Sex Offender Investigations Coordinator) Inspector, recruiter, Public Affairs Officer, Contracting Officer, Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal, and Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal. Throughout these roles, Gordon has been responsible for leading complex law enforcement initiatives, supporting district operations, strengthening interagency partnerships, and advancing the mission of the United States Marshals Service in the areas of judicial security, fugitive apprehension, and prisoner operations.

As a leader, Gordon has played a key role in coordinating operational strategies, mentoring deputy marshals and task force officers, and managing programs critical to the success of district operations. His experience spans both field operations and executive-level responsibilities, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the Marshals Service’s mission and its critical role within the federal justice system.

Gordon holds bachelor’s degrees in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration. He remains committed to professional leadership, operational excellence, and the continued advancement of the United States Marshals Service mission through collaboration, accountability, and service to the public.
