Traffic Stop Turns Takedown, Armed Suspect and Fugitive Arrested by Memphis Safe Task Force

For immediate release

Memphis, TN – The Memphis Safe Task Force has announced the arrest of Shone Pugh, 24, and Cordaries Pugh, 30, following a traffic stop that uncovered illegal firearms and outstanding warrants.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on November 12, 2025, Task Force members observed a darkcolored Ford Explorer traveling north on Lamar Avenue committing multiple traffic violations. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was identified as Cordaries Pugh, with Shone Pugh as the passenger.

During the encounter, Shone Pugh resisted officers and engaged in a physical struggle. An extended Glock magazine and a Glock 9mm pistol were recovered at the scene.

Investigators later determined the firearm had been stolen out of Florida. Shone Pugh was transported to a local hospital for treatment before being lodged in a detention facility. He has been charged with Assault on a Federal Law Enforcement Officer and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

Cordaries Pugh was found to have an active warrant for Probation Violation (Burglary of a Building) out of Shelby County. He was arrested without incident and also lodged at a local detention facility.

A Task Force member sustained minor injuries during the incident, was treated on scene by Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and subsequently released.

Both suspects remain in custody and are awaiting further court proceedings.

This incident underscores the Memphis Safe Task Force’s ongoing commitment, together with local, state, and federal partners, to remove illegal firearms from Memphis streets, holding offenders accountable, and safeguarding both officers and the community.
