Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Repeat Deportee and Convicted Sex Offender by Memphis Safe Task Force

Memphis, Tennessee — The Memphis Safe Task Force announces the arrest of Antonio Naranjo Soria, 48, for Being Unlawfully Present in the United States.
Soria, a Mexican national and U.S. convicted sex offender, was taken into custody following a traffic violation. Records indicate he was previously deported in 2018 and again in 2022.
According to the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry (SORB), Soria was convicted of sexual battery in March 2016 under Tennessee Code Annotated (TCA) 39‑13‑505. His registry information was last updated in May of this year. The SORB further notes that his last reported registration was nine years ago, and his current status is listed as “inactive – deported.”
This arrest highlights the Memphis Safe Task Force’s expanded interagency coordination and its commitment to proactive enforcement. By uniting federal, state, and local resources, the Task Force is able to identify offenders who pose significant risks and take swift action to remove them from our communities. Each operation reflects a coordinated approach to violent crime suppression, fugitive apprehension, and neighborhood protection, underscoring the Task Force’s mission to deliver lasting safety and peace of mind for Memphis families.
