Child Murder Suspect is Behind Bars

Memphis, Tennessee — The Memphis Safe Task Force announces the successful arrest of Jalen Thomas, 19, in Memphis, Tennessee.
Jalen Thomas is charged with two counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, one count of criminal attempt first degree murder, one count of first-degree murder, and one count of employing a firearm with intent to commit a felony. These charges stem from a shooting incident in the 700 block of Josephine Street on April 11, 2025, where a two-year-old child suffered fatal wounds.
At approximately 12:15pm on October 28, 2025, members of the Memphis Safe Task Force conducted a coordinated effort and arrested Thoms in the 1000 block of S. Lauderdale Street.
The Memphis Safe Task Force is an interagency coalition of federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, continues to demonstrate the power of collaboration in advancing public safety. This arrest underscores the Task Force’s mission: To Make America Safe Again and To Make Memphis Safe.
