U.S. Marshal Arrest 2nd South Street Shooting Suspect |
Philadelphia, PA – The U.S. Marshals Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force arrested June 6 a second suspect in the June 4 mass shooting incident on South Street in which three people were killed and 11 injured. Rashaan Vereen, 34, was taken into custody without incident around 7:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of Hemberger Street. Vereen is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, conspiracy, violation of the Uniform Firearms Act, possession of an instrument of crime, tampering of evidence and obstruction of justice. This was a joint investigation with the USMS; the
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the
Philadelphia Homicide Detective Division. Participants include the U.S. Marshals Service, Department of Homeland Security, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, Philadelphia Police Department, Chester City Police Department and Bucks County Sherriff’s Department.
