U.S. Marshals Task Force Captures Memphis Murder Suspect

Memphis, TN – U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announces the arrest of Edwin Bailey for First Degree Murder.

On November 9, 2021, Richard Varnadoe was shot to death at the 1600 block of Winston Street, Memphis, Tennessee. A warrant for First Degree Murder for the arrest of Edwin Bailey was issued that same day. The fugitive case was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Investigators with the Task Force developed information that Bailey had fled to the Detroit, Michigan area. The Task Force coordinated with the Detroit Marshals office and the fugitive was taken into custody earlier today. The arrest was made without incident.

“This success was achieved by our strong relationship with the Memphis Police Department, as well as our peers in Detroit,” said U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller.
