U.S. Marshals Arrest Federal Drug Fugtive in Delaware County

Philadelphia, PA – On Monday September 16th, at approximately 10:30am Trezith Smart was arrested by the Eastern District of Pennsylvania’s Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force. Investigators with the Eastern District of Pennsylvania arrested Smart in the 1600 block of Rolling Glenn Dr, Boothwyn, PA. Smart is currently being held at the Federal Detention Center waiting extradition back to the Eastern District of Virginia. Eric Gartner, United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania stated “our rapid apprehension of this dangerous fugitive again demonstrates the strengths of collaborative law enforcement relationships to the benefit of the public interest.”

In December of 2018, Smart was indicted by the Eastern District of Virginia for conspiracy to distribute cocaine. Smart was believed to be traveling between North Carolina and the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. In August of 2019, Smart escaped local custody in Virginia by kicking out a patrol car door while handcuffed. Investigators with the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, U.S. Marshals Eastern District of Pennsylvania’s Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, continued their fugitive investigation which ultimately led to Smart’s arrest in Pennsylvania. Smart is being housed in the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia where is is awaiting extradition to Eastern Virginia.

The Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force is a team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. The task force’s objective is to seek out and arrest violent crime fugitives. Membership agencies include the Philadelphia Police Department, Pennsylvania State Parole Officers, Pennsylvania State Police and Pennsylvania Attorney General Agents.
