One Federal Escapee Apprehended in Arkansas

Wesley Gullett (APPREHENDED)Washington, D.C. – One of the two Jefferson County Jail escapees in Arkansas being sought by the U.S. Marshals has been apprehended. Late Thursday morning, Wesley Gullett, 30, was apprehended by Chief David Dalrymple with the Dover, Arkansas, Marshal’s Office (NOT part of the U.S. Marshals Service) near the Ozark National Forest.

“We are grateful to all our law enforcement partners who have devoted many personnel and countless hours to the search for Gullett and Sanderson,” said Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Kevin Sanders. “Thanks to the vigilance and quick actions of Chief Dalrymple, one dangerous fugitive is back in custody.”

Gullett's federal charges include aided and abetted attempted murder in aid of racketeering, aided and abetted assault with dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute methamphetamine, and conspiracy to violate RICO. The other escapee, Christopher Sanderson, is still at large, and a reward of $5,000 is being offered for information leading to his apprehension.

Sanderson is charged as a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. His previous convictions included delivery of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, delivery of a controlled substance, and theft.

Sanderson should be considered armed and dangerous.
