Harrisburg, PA – Today, U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane announced
the arrest of Maurice Rucker – a 34-year old York man.
On June 6,
2019, the York City Police Department investigated a shooting in the 600
block of East Market Street in which a man was shot in the leg.
Witnesses identified the shooter as Rucker and officers obtained an
arrest warrant charging him with Aggravated Assault, Person not to
Possess Firearms, and lesser included offenses.
On June 19,
2019, the Springettsbury Township Police Department obtained another
arrest warrant charging Rucker with Possession with Intent to
Manufacture or Distribute Controlled Substances. Attempts to find Rucker
in York were unsuccessful and the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive
Task Force was asked to apprehend them.
Yesterday - at about 11
a.m. - the fugitive investigation led task force members to the 700
block of Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY where Rucker was found hiding
underneath a bed. He was arrested without further incident and turned
over to the New York Police Department to be arraigned as a fugitive.
United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “An extremely dangerous
and unpredictable suspect is now in custody. The collective efforts of
federal, state and local law enforcement ensured jurisdictional lines
did not impede the capture of this violent fugitive.”
Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania is comprised
of 20 state, county and local police agencies, including: the
Pennsylvania State Police; the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and
Parole; the York City Police Department; the York County Sheriff’s
Department; and, the York County District Attorney’s Office – all of
whom participated in this investigation.
