U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrests York Shooting Suspect in Brooklyn

Harrisburg, PA – Today, U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane announced the arrest of Maurice Rucker – a 34-year old York man.

On June 6, 2019, the York City Police Department investigated a shooting in the 600 block of East Market Street in which a man was shot in the leg. Witnesses identified the shooter as Rucker and officers obtained an arrest warrant charging him with Aggravated Assault, Person not to Possess Firearms, and lesser included offenses.

On June 19, 2019, the Springettsbury Township Police Department obtained another arrest warrant charging Rucker with Possession with Intent to Manufacture or Distribute Controlled Substances. Attempts to find Rucker in York were unsuccessful and the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force was asked to apprehend them.

Yesterday - at about 11 a.m. - the fugitive investigation led task force members to the 700 block of Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY where Rucker was found hiding underneath a bed. He was arrested without further incident and turned over to the New York Police Department to be arraigned as a fugitive.

United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “An extremely dangerous and unpredictable suspect is now in custody. The collective efforts of federal, state and local law enforcement ensured jurisdictional lines did not impede the capture of this violent fugitive.”

The USMS Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania is comprised of 20 state, county and local police agencies, including: the Pennsylvania State Police; the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole; the York City Police Department; the York County Sheriff’s Department; and, the York County District Attorney’s Office – all of whom participated in this investigation.
