Violent Felon Arrested After Barricade With U.S. Marshals

Tucson, AZ – Monday afternoon, U.S. Marshals aided in the apprehension of Ian Bessinger, 36, in the 900 block of Orange Grove Road in Tucson. Bessinger was wanted by the Pima County Sheriff’s Office in Tucson, Arizona for a probation violation stemming from charges of Aggravated Assault with a deadly Weapon and Possession of a Weapon by a Prohibited Possessor.

Bessinger has numerous felony convictions stemming from 2006 to 2015 of Criminal Damage, Aggravated Assault, Trafficking Stolen Property, Theft of Means of Transportation, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon by a Prohibited Possessor. In 2015, Bessinger was convicted of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Weapon by a Prohibited Possessor. In March of 2019, the Pima County Superior Court issued an arrest warrant for Bessinger alleging that he violated his probation.

This afternoon, U.S. Marshals gathered information that Bessinger was hiding out in an apartment complex. When U.S. Marshals attempted to make contact with Bessinger, he barricaded himself inside the unit and refused to come out and surrender. Pima County Regional S.W.A.T was called to take over the scene. After refusing S.W.A.T commands briefly, Bessinger ultimately complied and was arrested at approximately 3:45pm without further incident.
