3rd Fugitive Wanted in Violent Burlington Attack Arrested
Burlington, VT – The U.S. Marshals Service, Vermont Violent Offender Task Force (VVOTF) and Burlington Police Department arrested a fugitive wanted by the Burlington Police Department for an assault and robbery.

Tam Mai, 23 of Winooski, was wanted by the Burlington Police Department for a vicious attack in September 2018 that sent the victim in the hospital with serious injuries. At the time of arrest, Mai was the third and only outstanding subject who remained at large for the attack.

On November 9, 2018 the Burlington Police Department sought the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service in locating and arresting Mai, as his whereabouts were unknown. It was believed that Mai was actively evading arrest from law enforcement, however, remained in the Chittenden County area.

Mai has a lengthy criminal history to include aggravated assaults, possession of a deadly weapon, false info to law enforcement, and a significant list of violations of court imposed conditions of release.
On Saturday, December 1, 2018 Mai was arrested by the Burlington Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service in Burlington, during a controlled traffic stop.

Mai’s arrest concludes the trio’s attempted avoidance to face justice.

Mai was lodged at Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility for a lack of $10,000.00 bail and is expected to be seen before a Judge in Chittenden Superior Court on December 3, 2018. Any further inquiries regarding this matter should be directed to the Burlington Police Department.
