There’s a New U.S. Marshal in Town!

Miami, FL - Recently retired Miami-Dade Police Major Gadyaces Serralta was sworn in as the new U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Florida on September 17, 2018.

Serralta, 48, has been in law enforcement for about 29 years. Born and raised in Miami, his career in law enforcement began at the Miami-Dade County Police Department, where he retired as the Palmetto Bay’s police commander.

While at Miami-Dade, Serralta worked robbery intervention detail, narcotics, major investigations and the gang’s task force.

The U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Florida leads fugitive task force operations out of offices in Miami, Key West, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Fort Pierce. The majority of the task force are full-time officers and agents from different state and local offices. The purpose of the regional task force is to combine the efforts of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to locate and apprehend the most dangerous fugitives and assist in high-profile investigations in the southeast Florida area.
