U.S. Marshals Arrest Two in Connection With Kansas City, KS Homicide

Kansas City, KS – Joshua Washington, 27, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task force on August 30, 2018. Washington is a Kansas City resident wanted by the Kansas City Police Department (KS) for 1st Degree Murder.

On August 28, 2018, it is alleged Washington shot the victim following an altercation and then ran the victim over with a car. It is alleged that Washington’s girlfriend, Deidre Sewell, 26, was driving the suspect vehicle during the altercation. Washington is a gang member with a violent criminal history to include, assault, burglary, robbery, aggravated battery, and criminal possession of weapons.

On August 30, following an exhaustive 14 hour search, USMS task force members located the suspect vehicle, and subsequently located and apprehended both suspects. USMS deputies worked with KCKPD homicide detectives to ensure evidence preservation and prosecution.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force (Kansas City Division) is a multi-jurisdictional fugitive task force comprised of the United States Marshals Service, Kansas City Police Department, Kansas Department of Corrections, Overland Park Police Department, Wyandotte County Sheriff, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
