Texas Fugitive Accused of Stomping 83-year-old Man to Death Arrested

New Orleans, LA – Accused murder suspect Silvano Echavarria, 23, was arrested for allegedly stomping an 83-year-old grandfather’s head 74 times and punching him an additional 25 times leaving his lifeless body in the parking lot of a Pasadena, Texas apartment complex parking lot.

The U.S. Marshals Service New Orleans Office along with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Pasadena Police Department detectives tracked Echavarria to a Northshore residence in Lacomb where the fugitive fled to avoid Texas law enforcement authorities. After a brief stand-off, Echavarria walked out of the residence and surrendered without further incident. Echavarria was booked into St. Tammany Parish jail as a fugitive out of Harris County and will await extradition.

“This arrest was a direct result of interagency cooperation” said U.S. Marshal Scott Illing. “This suspect mistakenly thought he could escape justice by crossing state lines”. He further stated: “The community can rest easy knowing our team is not discouraged by geographical boundaries and are ready to pursue fleeing felons wherever they hide”.
