Marshals and Sheriffs Task Forces Arrest Alleged Murder and Attempted Murder Suspect
Memphis, TN - An investigation into one murderer led to arrest of another attempted murderer.

Joel Mccool was wanted for murder out of the Portland Oregon area. Investigators with the Marshals Fugitive Task Force thought he might be in the Memphis area.

During the course of the investigation the Sheriffs Fugitive Apprehension Team was brought in to assist.

During the course of the investigation Lynn Gillespie was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Task Force. He had a warrant out of Shelby County for Attempted 2nd degree murder and Aggravated Assault.

Mccool was tracked down and surrounded in the 300 block of Marianna. He was taken into custody without incident. Both fugitives were taken to the Shelby County Detention without incident. At the time of this release Mccool awaits extradition.

The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force with divisions in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The Western Tennessee Division of the GCRFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, BATF, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
