U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrests Aggravated Assault Suspect
Scranton, PA - Today, U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane announced the arrest of Kenneth Tonic, 28, in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

The Edwardsville Boro Police Department obtained an arrest warrant charging Tonic with multiple counts of aggravated assault and violation of an order for an incident occurring on March 18, 2018. It is alleged that Tonic had violated a protection from abuse order and while fleeing responding police, struck a police vehicle with the vehicle he was operating.

Today, US Marshals and members of fugitive task force located and arrested Tonic without incident on North Hancock Street in Wilkes-Barre. Tonic was turned over to local authorities pending judicial proceedings.

United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “The U.S. Marshals Service and our task force partners recognize the importance of cooperation between federal, state and local police agencies – especially when searching for fugitives wanted for violent crimes. It is my sincere hope that the arrest of this dangerous fugitive brings some sense of relief to the victim.”

The USMS worked jointly in this investigations with personnel from the Edwardsville Boro Police Department, Scranton Police Department, Wilkes-Barre Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, Williamsport Police Department and the Lycoming County Sheriff’s Office.
