U.S. Marshals Seeking New York Man Wanted for Virginia Murder
Fugitive is a Known Gang Member
Thomas NesmithNorfolk, VA - U.S. Marshals are asking for the public’s assistance in tracking down an armed and dangerous gang member on the run from a murder charge. Thomas Nesmith, 24, fled to New York since the murder and may still be hiding in New York.

On the evening of March 1, Norfolk police responded to an incident which appeared to be a single vehicle crash, but turned out to be a murder. Responding officers found Patrick Cochrane, 25, inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. Cochrane was transported to the hospital where he later died. Norfolk officers investigated, charged three individuals with second degree murder and related charges in connection to the incident, and asked the U.S. Marshals for assistance in making the arrests. Marshals quickly arrested Jeremy Harris and Becca Banta, and discovered that Nesmith had gone on the run.

Investigation conducted by the U.S. Marshals has shown that Nesmith, a known Crips gang member, was in Brooklyn as recently as mid-March. Nesmith can be identified by several distinguishing tattoos on his neck and face.

A reward of up to $1,500 is being offered for information leading to Nesmith’s arrest. Please call the U.S. Marshals at 1-877-Wanted-2 (1-877-926-8332) or email with any information regarding Nesmith. Nesmith should be considered armed and dangerous.
