U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrests Attempted Homicide Suspect
Scranton, PA - Today, U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane announced the arrest of Louie Rivera, 27, in Girardville, PA.

On February 25, 2018, the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole issued an arrest warrant charging Rivera with violating his conditions of parole. Rivera was also wanted by the Minersville Police Department for attempted homicide. In February 2018, Rivera allegedly got into a fight in a local bar, retrieved a gun from a vehicle, fired at the victim and then fled the scene.

U.S. Marshals in Allentown developed information that Rivera may be in the Girardville PA area and requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Scranton. Today, Rivera was located and arrested without incident in the 100 block of B Street in Girardville by U.S. Marshals and its fugitive task force partners.

United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “Fugitives charged with crimes of violence are a top priority for the U.S. Marshals Service and our task force partners. We will continue to work with the law enforcement community to ensure these fugitives find no safe haven and are brought to justice. It is my sincere hope that this arrest brings some sense of relief to the victim and the community.”

The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with officers from the Pennsylvania State Police, Scranton Police Department, Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole as well as members from the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
