Franklin County Rape Suspect Arrested by U.S. Marshals |
Fort Smith, AR -
On January 5, 2018, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office met with Deputy
United States Marshals to request assistance in locating and
apprehending Cory Oxford. Oxford, 26, was wanted by the Franklin County
Sheriff’s Office for 2 Counts of Rape and Transportation of a Minor for
Prohibited Sexual Conduct. Oxford had been wanted since July 2016, and his whereabouts were unknown. After several months of exhaustive investigation, and through a close partnership with Franklin County, the U.S. Marshals Western Arkansas Fugitive Task Force tracked Oxford to North Dakota. Oxford is believed to have fled to North Dakota after learning of the charges. On March 12, 2018, Oxford was arrested in Bismarck, North Dakota without incident. He is currently being held at the Burleigh County Jail located in North Dakota. He currently awaits extradition back to Franklin County, Arkansas where he will face his charges. Each year, the U.S. Marshals Service arrests countless federal, state and local violent offenders, spanning the globe. With broad arrest authority, and through state and local partnerships, the U.S. Marshals Service continues to bring fugitives to justice and reduce violent crime throughout the U.S. Additional information about the U.S. Marshals Service can be found at http://www.usmarshals.gov. #### America’s First Federal Law Enforcement Agency |
