New Orleans, LA - George Simon, 36, was arrested for his involvement in a brazen daytime robbery of a local high end clothing store in which he and an accomplice entered the business carrying an AK47 style assault rifle and ordered staffers and customers to the ground while they made off with merchandise valued at approximately $60,000.

The U.S. Marshals Service New Orleans Office along with local law enforcement partners conducted surveillance at a home on West Oak Point Court in LaPlace Louisiana after receiving very specific information through a Crimestoppers tip. While on surveillance, authorities observed three men depart the home in a dark colored sedan which local patrol units attempted to stop; however, the vehicle refused to pull over and a high speed police pursuit ensued involving several jurisdictions which ended with the suspect car rear-ending an 18-wheeler. Shortly thereafter, all three occupants abandoned the wreckage and attempted to flee the scene. One of the fleeing suspects Rob walker, 53, took a fatal leap from an elevated roadaway in a desperate attempt to escape and fell 35 feet to the ground beneath – He was later identified as the second gunmen in the store robbery.

A subsequent search warrant executed at the West Oak Point Court residence led to the recovery of piles of expensive clothing still bearing the store tags along with the assault-style rifle used in the crime and a high capacity magazine.

“This arrest was a direct result of community invovment” said US Marshal Genny May . “This suspect was identified and an arrest warrant was issued within seven hours of the crime which underscores the importance of maintaining strong partnerships between law enforcement, the community, and Crimestoppers”. She further stated: “Our team members along with our local partners demonstrated grit and tenacity by working through the night in order to take these individuals off the street”.
