56-day Operation in Baltimore Yields Hundreds of Arrests
Washington - The U.S. Marshals District of Maryland and the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force were the lead entities for a two-month operation that resulted in 259 arrests in Baltimore from Dec. 16 to Feb. 10. Of the 259 arrests, 10 of the suspects were wanted for murder, 10 for attempted murder and 76 for aggravated assault or assault. “Operation 7 Sentries,” announced by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan in December, targeted Baltimore’s most violent fugitives from justice and was part of a sweeping plan to focus on violent crime, drug organizations and gangs. Other agencies that participated in the operation were the Maryland State Police, the Baltimore Police Department and the Baltimore County Sheriff’s Office, along with the U.S. Marshals Criminal Intelligence Branch at headquarters. The success of this operation was due to the spirit of collaboration among all agencies and components involved and the tenacity and selfless dedication of the men and women who executed countless warrants and worked tirelessly during the operation.
