U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force Arrests Kentucky Homicide Suspect in Des Moines
Des Moines, IA – A man wanted in connection with a Lexington, Ky murder investigation has been arrested in Des Moines. The U.S. Marshals Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force took Valenti N. Ware, 35, into custody without incident just before noon today.

Investigators with the Lexington Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Ware on October 16. Ware is charged with Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence in the October 1 death of Meghan Acord, 37.

Based on information obtained by the U.S. Marshals Central Kentucky Fugitive Task Force, the U.S. Marshals Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force was able to locate Ware at a residence in the 1400 block of Cleveland Avenue in Des Moines. Ware is currently being held in the Polk County Jail awaiting extradition proceedings.

The Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force is a team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in the Southern District of Iowa. The task force’s objective is to seek out and arrest violent fugitives and sexual predators. Membership agencies include the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the Fifth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services, the Fourth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
