U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect Wanted in Springfield Double Murder
Springfield, Oh – U.S. Marshal Pete Tobin is pleased to announce that during the early hours of October 20, 2017 the U.S. Marshal’s Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) tracked down and located Kyle Bonaparte, age 20. Bonaparte was wanted by the Springfield Police Department for a double murder.

On October 4, Springfield Detectives were called out to an apartment in the 1300 block of Delta Road. Joshua Brown, age 26, was shot multiple times at the apartment and died from his injuries. Raina Beal, age 23, was also shot and later died from her injuries. Beal had a child in her arms as she was shot in the head. The child was not injured during the shooting. After a lengthy investigation, Springfield Detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Kyle Bonaparte.

During the early hours of October 20, Kyle Bonaparte was safely taken into custody at an address on Belmont Street in Portage, Indiana. This was a cooperative effort by the US Marshals Dayton SOFAST, US Marshals Great Lakes Regional Task Force, and Portage Indiana SWAT team. Through cooperative efforts such as this, dangerous fugitives who pose a threat to the community can be quickly apprehended. Kyle Bonaparte will be held in custody in Portage Indiana until he can be extradited back to Springfield, Ohio.

U.S. Marshals SOFAST is a multi-jurisdictional task force comprised of the Dayton Police Department, Springfield Police Department, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, ICE, Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Prosecutors Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, and Springboro Police Department.

The U.S. Marshals Service is the nation’s primary fugitive hunting organization and captures more federal fugitives each year than all other law enforcement agencies combined.
